Disrupting Ageism in Nova Scotia

Aging Well Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Nova Scotia Centre on Aging had been awarded funding by the New Horizons for Seniors program.

Over the next year, Aging Well Nova Scotia will be seeking to understand the lived experience and perceptions of ageism among older adults in our province. We aim to engage older people and the community groups that serve them to identify and create “ageism disruptors” in our communities.

As part of this project we are seeking expressions of interest in participating in an “Ageism Disruptors” Advisory group. The Advisory Committee will contribute insight and knowledge to guide the work; including:

  • providing feedback on engagement tools

  • providing input on the implementation of activities

  • advising on the format of any resources developed for the project.

The Advisory Committee will meet virtually throughout the duration of the project (May 2025-March 2026). Membership to the Advisory Committee will be open to older people, aged 55+ in Nova Scotia, as well as representatives from community organizations working with older people.
